The show is inspired by the novel Sisterhood of Dune (written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson). It chronicles the origins of the mysterious and powerful all-female order known as the Bene Gesserit. Long before they manipulated bloodlines to create the Kwisatz Haderach, they were a persecuted school of thought fighting to survive the political turmoil following the Butlerian Jihad (the war against thinking machines).
