The first major inspection is recommended after approximately 25 years of service. This long maintenance-free period is due to several factors: the gas density monitoring system, which alerts operators to any deviation; the use of corrosion-free enclosures and self-lubricating drives; and the SF6 insulating gas, which is neither consumed nor released during normal operation, preserving the unit's dielectric properties over its entire lifetime.
