Seeking to deepen his mastery, Al-Afasy traveled to Saudi Arabia to study at the at the Islamic University of Madinah . There, he specialized in the Ten Qira'at (canonical methods of Quranic recitation) and Tafsir (Quranic exegesis). During his studies, he earned several ijazahs (licenses to teach) from esteemed scholars, including Sheikh Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Zaiat and Sheikh Ibrahim Ali Shahata Al-Samanodei.
