This paper compares the Solar Hijri calendar (Tarikh Shamsi), used officially in Iran and Afghanistan, with the Gregorian calendar (Tarikh Miladi), the global standard. While the Miladi calendar is praised for international uniformity, the Shamsi calendar demonstrates superior alignment with seasonal astronomical events, particularly the vernal equinox. This paper argues that for agricultural, ecological, and traditional cultural purposes, Tarikh Shamsi is more accurate and intuitive. However, for global commerce and digital synchronization, Miladi remains practically indispensable.
